WhatsApp Messenger

If you’re looking for a messaging app to keep in touch with your friends and family and is a breeze to use, look no further than WhatsApp. While there are many different types of messengers, such as Facebook Messenger and Viber, WhatsApp has been the staple of choice for many people. WhatsApp Messenger is free for the first year ($0.99 after your trial period) and you can send text messages, images, and voice memos over WiFi or mobile connection.

Google Maps

Although the application now comes standard with most Android devices, Google Maps remains the absolute standard for map apps. With comprehensive and precise maps for over 200 countries, they’ve also got walking routes, bus schedules, and voice-guided navigation down pat as well. You can even use it on popular ski resorts, such as Whistler/Blackcomb, and use a street view of all the runs before you even hit the slopes!

With Hangouts, Google has taken on the Skype overloads for voice and video communication. However, still being able to buy credit, get in touch with people with both home and cell phone lines, and best of all, video chat, Skype has it going for them. Of course, Skype to Skype conversations are still free, but all the other options are available for purchase at a much lower fee than what you’d pay to do a normal voice call on your mobile or home phone.

AirDroid is a fast and free solution to manager your android device from your desktop computer. The connection is made without cables and you can easily control your android with mouse and keyboard. You can send SMS, load data to the device, install apps, delete or move data around, take screenshots, and a ton of other things. AirDroid is intuitive to use, does not require any root rights and should be staple for all android users.

Dropbox is the pioneer when it comes to cloud storage. Even if you don’t have the necessary storage space on your mobile device, you can still bring all your photos, videos, and music along with you thanks to Dropbox. As well, thanks to automatic camera backup you need to have no fear of losing any photos taken with your smartphone as they’ll be automatically uploaded to the cloud. Files and folders can be shared amongst friends, even if they’re not using Dropbox themselves.
What are your must-have apps for Android? Are any of them on our list?
