Lenovo Vibe X Announced: 5-inch Full HD IPS, 13 MP Camera, Android 4.2

Lenovo has just announced the successor to its flagship K900 smartphone with an interestingly named Lenovo Vibe X. The new Android smartphone flagship will be smaller and lighter than the predecessor and upgraded to a quad-core processor as well. Lenovo Vibe X is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad core processor from Mediatek (MTK 6589T) as compared to the 2 GHz dual-core atom processor from Intel on K900.

Even though it carried a decent display, K900 was a tad too big for many people’s liking, and was clearly in the Phablet category. With Vibe X, Lenovo looks to be addressing those issues by bringing down the display size to 5-inch and reducing the weight as well. Vibe X comes with a stunning 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixel) IPS display with an ultra-sharp 441 pixels-per-inch. The display sits under a scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen beveled at the edges.
At just 6.9mm thin, Lenovo Vibe X looks pretty thin and it weighs just 121 grams. To achieve that, Lenovo has done away with the brushed aluminum back of K900 with a polycarbonate body for Vibe X. The design is a typical candybar looks with curved edges. Lenovo Vibe X will carry a 13 MP snapper at the back and a 5 MP camera on the front.

Vibe X will be no different. On the downside, Lenovo Vibe X will be coming with Android 4.2 JellyBean which isn’t the latest version and a meager battery of 2000 mAh which seems to be a bit too small to carry a 5-inch Full HD screen, specially considering it’s not removable.
The Lenovo Vibe X will be available in China starting October and other countries like India from December this year. It won’t be coming to Europe anytime soon. Lenovo has also updated the K900 with additional colors – black & orange, and in two storage capacities – 16GB & 32GB beginning immediately in China and later this year in other countries.
