Huawei announce Ascend Mate 2 with 4,050 mAh battery coming to the US

Huawei has officially announced the Ascend Mate 2 4G and, despite rumors that the manufacturer might have to withdraw from the US market due to tense US/China relations, they have confirmed the Ascend Mate 2 4G will indeed be headed to the US. The best part of this news is that Huawei has clearly been listening to the one consistent complaint amongst smartphone users: poor battery life. The Ascend Mate 2 4G has such a large battery it can even be used to charge other smartphones!

The device is packing thoroughly mid-range specs that won't get any Android ninjas drooling, but it's a worthy addition to the US market nonetheless. And one of the most impressive features is the whopping 4,050 mAh battery that is so large it can actually be used to charge other devices on the fly. Huawei claims it will get you two days of use on LTE. Despite a mediocre processor and screen resolution, the Ascend Mate 2 4G actually has a decent amount of RAM and a passable camera. It will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

As you can see, there's an interesting mix of mid-range and sort-of premium specs in the Ascend Mate II. It's pretty clearly going to appeal to the average smartphone user who wants a great battery life and good camera without the need for the fastest processor known to humankind. Something tells me that is a whole lot of people. Add to this the as-yet-undisclosed price, which will, nevertheless, fall a long way short of the cost of an S4 or G2, and the Huawei Ascend Mate II may just find itself a nice little corner of the American market to call its own.
Are you all about battery life and camera? Do you think Huawei will succeed with this combination of premium and mid-range specs?
